    What is Chemical Underpinning?

Chemical underpinning, also known as resin injection is a technique used to improve the strength and stability of a building’s foundation.

This method is particularly useful when the soil beneath a structure is weak, unstable, or shifting.

It involves injecting a multi component resin into the soil beneath the foundation, where it reacts and hardens, increasing the load-bearing capacity of the soil and re-supporting the foundation.

We use our Teretek® resin injection technology to enhance soil properties beneath existing structures.

    Chemical Underpinning Process

    The Teretek Resin Injection Process

    1. Small holes are drilled into the treatment zone.
    2. Teretek material is injected, quickly expanding to fill voids and compact loose or weal sub grade soils.
    3. Continued injection raises and re-supports the slab.
    4. The treated area can be used immediately after the repair work is done.

    Chemical Underpinning Applications

Foundation Stabilisation: Chemical underpinning or resin injection is often used when existing foundations have settled or when soil conditions are poor, such as in areas with high moisture content or weak clays.

Structural Repairs: It’s used to prevent further settling or tilting of a building, especially when the foundation is compromised due to aging, shifting, or external factors like nearby excavation or construction.

New Construction Projects: In situations where a building is being expanded or repurposed, resin injection can provide additional support to the existing foundation without requiring a full excavation or demolition.

Overall, chemical underpinning is a highly effective and efficient solution for re-levelling and re-supporting foundations in various types of soil conditions, especially in areas where traditional methods are impractical or too expensive.
