Problem
A major resort in Central Australia identified an 800 mm underfloor void beneath approximately 400 m2 of Bondek suspended floor within its production kitchen
The void had developed following previous service failures, which compromised the structural integrity of the suspended slab and required a reliable and lightweight void-filling solution to restore stability and ensure long-term performance.
Solution
Mainmark was engaged to remediate the issue using Terefil, a high-performance, lightweight cementitious fill material.
With a targeted density of 700 kg/m., Terefil provided the optimal balance of strength and reduced load on the existing structure. Due to its superior fluidity and sel self-levelling characteristics, the material was installed efficiently via only six discrete fill points through the suspended floor, minimising disruption to surrounding areas and operations.
Result
The project was successfully completed within two days of continuous pumping, fully stabilising the 800 mm void and restoring structural integrity beneath the kitchen floor.
The use of Terefil delivered a fast, cost-effective, and low-impact solution that met the resort’s operational and engineering requirements with minimal downtime.
