LMG Compaction Grouting

LOW MOBILITY GROUTING or LMG refers to the pressurised injection into in-situ soil of a relatively stiff, cohesive, low slump grout. The grout should not permeate or fracture the soil matrix but rather form an (expanding) bulbous mass around the point of injection.

Applications:

  • Large-scale ground improvement through small, 100 mm (core) holes.
  • Can be used in low headroom (>2000) situations.
  • Can be used above or below water table.
  • Computerised monitoring of grouting parameters, for Quality Control & Assurance.
  • Grout mixes engineered / mixed on site.
  • Generally most cost-effective on larger structures.

LMG can be used to meet a range of objectives including heavy lifting, bearing capacity improvement and liquefaction mitigation as well as structural supports and the filling of large voids. Where a grouting program is intended to displace and densify surrounding soils, LMG is commonly known as Compaction Grouting™.

The technique can be readily applied above or below the water table, in low-headroom or restricted access conditions, often with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities.
